looking for a piano song...

Hello everybody,
I'm trying to identify a song that I heard just once. It is a song for piano, it should be for 4 hands (maybe 3 hands...).

The right part is very very simple: it starts from a note (let's say a C, but I don't know) and go down touching all the notes (C,B,A#,A,G#, G...) until the next C. there it plays the C 3 times. then it repeats it starting from this C going again down until the next C and plays it 3 times. then for 2 times it plays some notes around this C. finally it goes up in a similar way as what was doing before going down (I mean: C,C#,D,D#,E,F,F#...) going up 2 octaves playing 3 times the C every time it reaches a C.
(in order to play all this, only is needed one hand).

The left part instead plays some chords (with 2 hands) in order to accompagn the other part. these chords are more complex than the right part, but they are still quite easy.

Someone can help me in identifying this song?

Thanks to all.
Stefano

Hi Stefano, welcome to MIMF, it's a fun place

Firstly it's not a song. It's a piece. A song is a thing that is sung, and as far as I can tell pianos still don't have vocal chords.

Do you have a JPG of the music so we can see the score because huming your notes in my mind gives me no insight as to what the music is.

Hello Contratrombone64,
sorry about my wrong terminology. My problems are that I'm just a beginner piano player and that I'm not an english native speaker.

In every case, sorry again for my lack of precision :p (and thanks a lot for your correction).

Regarding the piece, I don't have neither the piano sheet, neither an audio file. What I can try to do is to record myself playing the upper part (but the performance will not be so good...). I'll try to do it tonight.

In the mean time if you remember something...

Thank you!
S.

Hello everybody again.
here I've attached a .wav file containing a part of the piece I'm looking for.

Any idea?

Thank you,
Stefano

Goodness - it sounds like a study to me, and a chromatic one at that (20th century, not 19th). I have absolutely no idea, Stef, sorry.

Hi Stefano,

No clue either - I quite agree with CT64 that this sounds like an exercise in piano study. I've had many piano exercises that sounded so similar. Can't imagine why it would be done with 4 hands though. Possibly our resident piano pedagogue, Rojo, has some insights on this request.

Thank you very much!

Yes I know it is difficult to identify... maybe it is just an exercise... I've just tried to find it :p

in every case, thank you again for helping me!
:)
