    Lang Lang - a journey

This extract from Lang Lang's book about his musical journey is rather harrowing, however, he did study in China where punishment is mandatory regardless of guilt, it would seem ...

You have to feel sorry for him, no wonder he called her Proffessor Angry.

I don't expect it is easy to be a young talented musician, who does everything right but still gets told off.

I would like to get hold of his book and read it. Thank you for that excerpt, you have whetted my appetite.

he is an exceptional musician, for sure. I've not heard him live, but I've certainly heard him play with our orchestras via their broadcasts.

Lang Lang is not the only one who suffered such indignations - Rachmaninoff had a music teacher named Zverev who would slap and hit his students if they made mistakes. Zverev, incidentally, means *beast*.

Hitting students is just so wrong. But they were the bad old days I guess.
