    Does anyone know this music?

    Hello everyone.

In going through some old tapes I came across an interesting bit of music that I've been trying to identify. It's a recording I made off the radio over 10 years ago. I have about 20 minutes before the tape ran out. It's a very dramatic atmospheric piece that's almost like film music in parts. There's a moment where an organ breaks in and plays for several minutes. I've attached a couple of samples but I'll upload the full thing if needed.

I've tried a few forums hoping for some good luck. If you can take a listen I'd certainly appreciate it. Many thanks.

I figured it out. This is the music on psycho the movie or Halloween.
That should narrow it down some. Welcome to the forum.

    Hello Donovans Brain,

Welcome. Since the many members and guests here appreciate and have experience in all types of music, no doubt you will find an answer or at least some good tips on where to look further.

While this does in the fore sound like the score for a film, I rather doubt that it is. Although in the beginning it is reminiscent to the theme from Psycho, it is unfortunately not that. Not from Halloween, either. (sorry, Judy)

Since it is from around 10 years ago, I can't think of any movies it might be from but to me, it sounds more like the overture for a theatrical production. I could be wrong but it sounds like something John Williams may have written.

    My two cents worth.

    Sorry, dunno.

Could be film music; brought Stravinsky and Bartok to mind, but it's surely not by either of them.
