    Aerial Ballet? Montreal Fireworks Competition

We are sooooooooooo lucky here in Montreal. Every summer there is an international fireworks competition. There is also one in Quebec City. Basically, there are 10 countries represented and they do 30 minute displays. There is a display each Saturday night at 10pm, rain or shine and the last 2 weeks of the competition there is an extra display on Wednesday nights. They shoot the fireworks from an amusement park on the bank of the Saint Lawrence River, which is about a 10 minute walk right down the street we live on.

Here are the links to what I have filmed so far. (my technique is improving as I do more research about camera settings and adding background music, etc.)

    Hope you like them.

I will list each performance separately.

Thanks Margaret. The USA is up next. Will post it soon. Then we have another display tonight put on by China. If China can't put on a good show, I'll surely be surpirsed. I only the rain stops. It's really putting a damper on the festivities this weekend. There are outdoor stages set up all over the village. We finally left one stage after waiting in the rain for half an hour and the show didn't start nor was any announcement made. So we came home for a bit to spend some time with the "kids" and will try again in a while. We're definitely going to the fireworks, tho' as they go off "rain or shine" (silly, shine at night?)

Darn those "once upon a life" ads. First they show a .gif file and the next day - poof; advertising for someplace else. The worst part is, that website isn't even where the gif file came from in the first place!

    China Fireworks Display

    Hi Guys,

Here is this past Saturday's display put on by China. It isn't as long as the others as I heavily edited it. I would have thought China would have had a fab display and it was very good, however they did not take into consideration that there was no wind that night so much of the show was obscured by heavy smoke hanging overhead. I really wish they had waited a couple of minutes between cannon vollies, but they didn't hence the editing. I took out most of the parts that were hidden behind aerial smoke.

In my humble opinion, it doesn't compare with Australia or the USA presentation...bummer. See what you think. Stephen

Thanks for sharing that Stephen. I agree with you, not as good as the others.

It's that time of year again

And the fireworks have begun. I have several to render and show. This is just a brief one while I was walking.
