Cage died in 1992, the date on the obit that Contratrombone64 just posted.
The last concert appearance of Cage, in July 1992, was documented on disc:

And the Opus 20 documentary on youtube has some clips that I'm sure are from the Frankfurt concert that was to have been the 80th birthday celebration.

I never heard of his death, but I'm stunned it was so long ago, regardless it's the music world's loss for sure.
I couldn't agree more.
At least we had him for a good long while. And his memory lives on. And his influence. And his music.
