Hi CT
Yes one big flute. They are very good though, trouble is I listened to all the mp3 excerpts. Now I want the whole music, there are some lovely pieces.
Margaret
Margaret - yes - wasn't the music tantilizing and not quite enough?
David
Margaret - here's an even bigger one ... (flute that is).
David
Wow David
That is a big one, I'm not sure I would have enough puff to play it though.
The music was lovely and definately not enough of it, I just began getting interested and it ended.
Margaret
Aloha Dame Margaret,
It is very true that flutes are *windhogs*, just like bass and contrabass trombones and contrabass tubas. The late, great tubist of the Chicago Symphony Arnold Jacobs could only, because of a serious illness that robbed him of lung capacity, play the tuba with half of his lung capacity - here is a pic of the Maestro: http://g-ecx.images-amazon.com/image...._AA240_.L.jpg
Yes, the big brass need a copious supply of wind but not as much as one would think. Last year I attended a recital in which a very petite lady who was graduating from the University played a contrabass tuba. She wowed the whole audience(including yours truly) with her agility in playing, breath control, dynamics, and interpretation.
Cheerio,

Hi CD
Thank you for that information, poor Arnold Jacobs, it can't have been easy for him.
That lady playing contrabass tuba sounds to have been very good.
