Organ of the church of Pibrac

Pibrac is a small city near by Toulouse in france.
There is a small but beautiful organ whose pipes have been very well sampled a few weeks ago by a friend, to be used as the sound source of a virtual organ MyOrgan or Hauptwerk 1.
The sounds are very pure and realistic.
Listen for instance the oboe 8' in this draft of a music I am writting for a German organist who is going to leave us for a world that is told to be better.

The sample set is only 35 euros and MyOrgan is free. So, if you have a midi keyboard, you can play organ at home for 35 euros. that is nice.

This sample set is sold by a non profit organization "Association des Amis de l'Orgue de Pibrac" and the benefits (if any ) will be used to promote activities related to pipe organ (like building a portable electronic version of the Pibrac organ for the music school as it is not always easy for kids to play on the real instrument, facilitating organization of events around the pipe organ, additional recording from other Puget organs, etc...).
In any case the author of this bank and the persons that have helped finalizing it will make not profit at all...
Well, I guess being able to play the organ when we are away from the church is already a gift which is well worth the time it takes to record such a fine instrument.

Thanks a lot to Muscalis who is an incredibly creative and talented person and has taken time to enjoy, improve and promote this organ.

Here is more info on Pibrac, its organ and the sample set as well as more demos (including from JP Verpeaux).

Pibrac is a nice little town in the south of France near Toulouse.
It has a pipe organ from Puget built in 1863 (16 stops)
    http://pibrac.free.fr/orgue/orgue_en.htm

The initial reason for sampling the organ was to document the current status of the instrument.
However as the quality of the samples were appreciated by several organists, it was decided to release an HW1 version of this organ. It is also nice to see hox this pipe organ has inspired our friend Jean Paul.

The sample set is sold by the non profit organization: "Les Amis de l'Orgue de Pibrac". The only benefit for the author is the pleasure to play the organ even when the real instrument is not available. The benefits (if any ) will be used by the association to maintain and promote the organ.

Here are a few demos that should allow you to appreciate the instrument.
The first version is purposely very close to the real instrument, including a lot of the defaults. We will provide to the users, improved and extended version in the near future. These demos have no reverb added:

Hope you will enjoy and help support this organ. Donations are welcome as well.

    Thanks.

    Hi Jean-Paul,

Thank you for all the work that you do with virtual pipe organs on this forum. This organ set sounds really good, and I am downloading your MyOrgan demo set now.

I have MyOrgan working through WINE (windows compatibility layer) in Linux, so if anyone wants more information on getting it working on a Non MS Windows OS please do ask :-)

    Regards,

    Graham

    Thank you for your post.
your offer is very interesting, I hope may people will see it.
I'll be happy to run MyOrgan with linux, but i have not succeded in installing linux and window in my computer. I have got a big crash and I have had to re-install all windows, loosing many files. I do not feel ready to resume this experiment.

    Hi Jean-Paul,

My solution is to run Linux on a USB Memory stick -using a small distribution called Puppy Linux. Puppy can also be run straight from a CD so it is very versatile. I'm currently very involved with a version of Puppy that runs a virtual theater organ, but am very willing to help anyone who wants to try it to run MyOrgan too.

    Hi Jean-Paul,

Puppy Linux is a free/opensource operating system that can be downloaded from http://puppylinux.org/ . Later this week I will put together a WINE (Windows emulation layer) and MyOrgan installation file (for Puppy these are called PET files) for people to use and write a little How-To. For now you can visit http://organs.110mb.com/PuppitzerBeta.htm to see the information on the virtual theater organ program - Miditzer - on Puppy Linux.

    Have fun,
    Graham
