There's a song in my head

I don't know about you, but I seem to have a piece of music playing in my head all the time I'm awake.

It can be something I like, something I don't like or something I haven't thought about or been exposed to for years. These tunes range from the sublime to the utterly urbane. And can be planted in my head by other people - please don't get any ideas here!

At the moment it's Mario Lanza singing There's a Song in My Heart, for obvious reasons. But before that it was Homer Simpson singing Spider Pig. And the classics get a good run too.

Does anyone else have the same thing happening? Or should I seek professional help? "More lithium, please, nurse!"

The other day it was Good king Wenceslas, maybe I was preparing for Christmas.

I used to work with a man who would get a song in his head, and he had to share it with everyone. So then we all had that perticular song in our heads. I have tried deliberately singing something else but, if a tune is in my head it will keep coming back.

I'd stick with the Lithium as the Thorazine has a definite give-away that is called the "Thorazine Shuffle" when people are on it.

Seems like we're all approaching that Lithium zone.

I get songs in my head for days on end. Actually, sometimes I SWEAR I can even hear "newscasts" and other oddities...to borrow a phrase, most 'vexing' and it makes me think I'm going nuts. Of course, that's false because I believe I already went nuts years ago...too bad I can't seem to remember. Mad cow, maybe?

Joe just loves it when I am constantly humming and/or singing the same bits of song over and over when this happens...NOT.

Getting old is so entertaining at times.

I try to avoid listening to my iPod on the way home from work for that very reason. Sometimes, listening to the evening broadcast has horrific consequences. It's really bad when you've got a melody galloping about in your brain and it's still galloping about the following morning.

CT64, I know what you mean. I've sometimes had music in my head keep me awake. All part of getting older, I suppose. Me, not you, of course!

Thank you Tûrwethiel for the virtual vitamin B. It is very good, I have been much better today. Yesterday afternoon all I could sing was Peggy Lee's song "fever", today nothing.

I was in trouble with my colleagues yesterday as I had Seasons in the Sun stuck in my head and shared it. "Shut up, shut up, shut up," they cried. I then threatened them with Seventeen. They were, however, OK with Dancing Queen. Quite a day!
