Major Symphonic Work: Progress Log - Part II (English)

I guess it's time for an update on the progress of my symphonic poem "Cantabile".
As you may know, the first movement - called "Souffle le vent" - was given it's first performance in June last year (you can read more about that in the First progress log, and listen to an audio excerpt from the first performance here)

The date for the first performance of the complete work in four movements (duration approx. 45 minutes) has not been set yet, but it looks like it will be in November/December this year (2005) or the beginning of 2006. Whatever it will be, I expect to have completed the work by the end of August. There is still lot to do, but it is slowly but steady falling in place.

I must admit that I had some troubles with it last year (in the fall/winter), some kind of "writer's block", but I have overcome that now and is back on the right track. I will keep you posted on the progress and news... It's going to be an exciting year indeed

It's coming along fine. I'm working very hard these days and I will soon have more information I can tell about the project! (This unfortunately also means I can't be as active on this forum as I would like, but I will be around as much as I can

Just a short update: Yesterday I went to a meeting and lunch at the Marselisborg Castle, where I presented the work in its current state and we discussed the first performance and also ideas for more performances in the future. The meeting went well and as soon as everything has been arranged and fallen in place I'll announce the exact date and venue for the full premiere performance of the symphonic poem "Cantabile"!

I'm afraid I haven't been able to post much on the forums for the last couple of weeks. This is because of my work on Cantabile, which has intensified in the last month. I will catch up and return to being fully active on Magle International Music Forums very soon (within a week)
