large organ in licheniu

I found a clip on youtube of the organ at the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Lichen in Licheniu, Poland.

I tried to google it in hopes of finding a stoplist. Does anybody have any leads on one?

Thanks for the research on this request ...
Curious though about the Keraulophon 8' on the Manual IV list. From my online sources I notice the pipe has a hole in the top ... wondering what this sounds like.

The Keraulophone 8 is classified as a string stop - the hole near the top of the pipes does impart some *interesting qualities*. When put together in a combination with the Montre 8, Diapason 8, Principal 8, Flute Harmonique 8, Bourdon 8, and Violoncelle 8 a very magical sound billows forth - as C.B. Fisk put it *a whining cantabile* - In my ear the sound is as rich as a triple chocolate fudge Krispy Kreme Donut with a caramel fudge filling - an amber glowing horn/violone warmth. Of course, the voicer at ZYCH as opposed to CC probably had something else in mind with the stop.

I was on youtube earlier and watched a clip where the guy was slowly turning 360 degrees with the camera, showing the whole basilica. I believe I saw more than two organs.

It's interesting the different spelling 'twists' different languages can put on stop names - and yet they're still recognizable. Does anyone know what Russians (Cyrillic) do with such names? It could really throw a westerner for a loop to sit down to a Russian console and suddenly not recognize the stop names. Or are the names so universal that even the Russkies follow them?

Keraulophone seems to be a rather rare stop. St. Sulpice has one, but how many others? At one time the Mormon Tabernacle organ had a stop named "Melos Anthrophone". Does anybody know what that was?

Melos means rhythm, movement, and sound of words.

Anthro means *man*

Phone, from Greek, means *a sound far-off*

Lets boil it all down through German and we get *Menschenstimme* which means *man's voices* + *far-off*

Then to French and we get Voix Humaine meaning human voice + far-off

So, in the end we get *Human Voice Echo*

The Russian Orthodox Church forbids the use of music instruments in Churches since it distracts and calls attention unto itself - The human voice in a choir provides the music. So, the Russians don't have such a history of the pipe organ as Western European Countries. Of course, there are some organs by Cavaille-Coll, Rieger-Kloss, Walcker, Klais, and some others. Through Cavaille-Coll the Russians got used to the use of French nomenclature. Through the other builders they got to know German nomenclature.

Now, how can an organ possibly be accused of calling attention to itself??? True, it may be shaking the place and taxing peoples' auditory capacity, to say nothing of all those big pipes standing up there, but it's still an inanimate object. It's that dork sitting on the bench calling attention. (Just thought I'd get that in!!)

The description sounds like "Melos Anthrophone" would be similar to a vox humana. I don't think the stop is there any more, but it's in an older brochure I have about the organ.

It's interesting the different interpretations different religions can put on things. I had some relatives who were Mennonite, and they supposedly don't do much with music, either. So what happened to "Praise Him with trumpets and organs"? Maybe they had something different in mind, before modern sound barrier blasters.

As a convert to the Russian Orthodox Church I have accepted their tradition(2000 year old tradition) and view about musical instruments in Church. For the Russian Church, the organ takes away from the importance of the Divine Liturgy. Of course, as a former Lutheran organist I've had a very hard time accepting this, but there are Theological reasons why I converted. I will not get into a discussion what those reasons are on this forum nor discuss them in PM's - sorry, but thats my personal policy.
