Hi friends,

Im an amateur horologist. I happened to inherit an old grandfather clock movement(machine) but there are no chimes attached to it so it wont ring. I want to add chime by building it myself .

I plan to add tubular bells made from steel pipes. the clock strikes the melody "Westminster chime" can any one give me successions how to build and tune tubular bells from steel pipes.

If you have got any better suggestion you can post and guide me.

thanks,
Alex :)

Patience is a virtue ... I too run out of virtues sometimes

A number of people have read the thread - and are apparently as unknowledgeable as I am on this subject. Guess I am the only one brave enough to admit my stupidity on the subject matter

I've taken the liberty to copy your initial post into the Pipe Organ forum - hoping for more exposure and the chance that an organ tech type person may pick up on this for you.

OK, sorry, I don't know. I hope someone can help you.

Krummhorn, not knowing does not make you stupid.

My apologies, Margaret, and to anyone else whom I offended ... perhaps a better choice of words should have been used. I was not implying that lack of knowledge equals stupidity ... Shoot, even regulator's make make posting mistakes too. Sorry

Hi Krummhorn,

Please no appologies needed, I was not offended. What I was saying is don't call yourself stupid. You might not know the answer to this, but you do have a lot of answers on many other things.
