Kalinka - 'Leningrad Cowboys'/Red Army Choir

    Famous Russian folk song -

    'Kalinka'
Leningrad Cowboys and Russian Red Army Choir
    Live Concert
    Helsinki, Finland
    (1993)

In June of 1993 the great Russian Red Army Choir became an item of pop culture by performing together live with the Finnish cult band 'Leningrad Cowboys' in Helsinki, Finland (where they performed on the Senate Square in front of a crowd of over 70,000 ecstatic listeners) and then in Berlin.

    Hi there Corno Dolce,

Yes, something really different. Those singers were really tremendous and the sustained note of the soloist is also remarkable.

    Regards

    Aloha Mr. Newman,

I am quite familiar with the Red Army Chorus from my visits to St. Peterburg.
They can certainly croon a tune.

    Cheers,

    CD

    Hi there Corno Dolce,

Yes, and judging from their recordings they were surrounded by very talented instrumentalists also. It surprises me there were never female voices associated with the Red Army Chorus, seeing that women served in the Soviet forces also. But those male voices were extremely good, for sure.
