    A piece for Rojo...

Seeing that RoJo is somewhat *incognito* these days I wish to share a piece with her and MIMF. Since she is a Ravel fan I think she might like the very overt references to a most famous and tricky piano work by Ravel:

    Cheerio,

*If a man wants God to hear his prayer quickly, then before he prays for anything else, even his own soul, when he stands and stretches out his hands towards God, he must pray with all his heart for his enemies. Through this action God will hear everything that he asks* -Abba Zeno-

*Protagoras: "Truth is subjective. What is true for you, and what is true for me, is true for me. Your opinion is true by virtue of its being your opinion."

*Socrates: "My opinion is: Truth is absolute, not opinion, and that you are in absolute error. Since this is my opinion, then according to your philosophy you must grant that it is true."

    Thanks CD.

Yup; definitely some familiar bits and pieces in there. Nice hommage; I enjoy hearing Ravel's influence in the works of later composers. I quite like the piece in itself too; it works quite well. I don't think it's typical Sciarrino fare, except perhaps in terms of the importance of sonorities; at times the piano sounds so very like a harp. I think I still prefer Gaspard though.

The composer has an interesting approach to music and composing...

    Hi Ms. RoJo,

Yep, I like *Gaspard de la Nuit* more. I had never heard of Sciarrino until yesterday morning - what a surprise for a blockhead like me.

    Cheerio,
