    Youtube Symphony Orchestra

Yup; it had to happen. And why not? Anyone game to participate in the auditions? Maybe I should dust off the old oboe. lol

Goodness! I haven't picked up my fiddle for years and years, but could probably lower the tone (and pitch!) considerably. Maybe we could subvert it into an online Portsmouth Sinfonia.

What a neat idea and concept.

I'm probably too out of it to even think about learning the required repertoire for the piano audition - best left to the younger piano students ... and what a thrill it would be for a young person to have this opportunity.

Well how cool is that? I look forward with keen interest to see how this develops.

    And a one-a and a two-a...

Ok, you can be the conductor, but you've got to have your own baton. Have you got one?

Kromme - I have a large selection of knitting needles you can choose from if you don't have your own baton!

I've got one. And I am going to be the conductor. Is that clear?

Did you hear that, Kromme? I think you've got competition. Better get yourself a baton, and tout de suite! Vicki, how soon can you get one of your knitting needles to Kromme?

I have a baton don't worry guys. We'll exchange the post with Mat like they have been doing in Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra since Mariss Jansons left.
Not possessing a baton will not be a problem. You just need to pick up a toothpick and you will be just fine.If not don't be furious at me,show your anger to Valery Gergiev,he gave me the idea.

^^ That sounds fair. Although I quite like the idea of a toothpick duel.

Andrew- I think we talked about that here before, but I don't remember in which thread. Sure would be cool...

I love the idea of duelling conductors trying to sway a bolshie orchestra.

Reminds me of a Hoffnung number I can't find online that involves a piano soloist versus conductor and orchestra.

I still can't get the problem with those batons and conductors. After all, if they allow an orchestra with 50 performers and only one conductor, why could not we suppose the opposite would work great too ( 50 conductors, 1 performer ). All options in between would be herewith ok as well - so everybody gets an opportunity to do whatever he wants, and all are happy and smiling.))))

In case either of our conductors need a little practice, this might help.
