Console specification.

AGO ,BDO and RCO

I have the "BDO Spieltischnormen 2000" booklet, but there are 30 pages of information, measurements and dimensions so that they are impossible to post here. Every single detail has been standardized.

The AGO has never agreed upon standardized specifications for pipe organs...even though many builders insist that their console are made to "AGO Specifications"

The only part of AGO specs that most of the US builders agree upon is 61 note manuals and 32 note concave pedalboard. The rest of the AGO specs determine spacing between the pedals, length of keysticks and general placement (and order) of swell shoes and crescendo pedals.

AGO publishes a booklet, but I don't have that in my collection - haven't really had the need to have it really. I play on what is there ... not much I can do about it after its built .

I am quite an expert with wood work so I thought of building a pedalboard for my(proposed!!!! ) VPO.

Hi Alex. I am in a similar situation to you. I have a book called "The Organ Today" by Norman and Norman (available cheaply from Amazon) which gives many of the key pedalboard dimensions - but not all you would need to build one, as far as I can see. For example, it doesn't give the concavity at the back of the pedalboard. I think I may take some measurements from a couple of local church organs (unless I come across a suitable second hand pedalboard first).

By the way, after struggling for a while, I'm now getting good results using M-Audio midi controller keyboards for the manuals. I've started a thread on the digital organ forum about this.
