My Band-please review and let me know what you think
Hey everyone, below are links to both our myspace page and our "official" home page, although the myspace gets more action. Please listen to the songs and let me know your educated, musicians opinion. I consider us to be Progressive Hard Rock/Metal and we dont really stick to a formula, we tend to just play whatever feels good at the time.
We have just recorded a full length CD that will be released independently later this month, and we have a 4 song EP that was released in 2007. There are songs from both of these releases posted. OK...hope you enjoy...and if you do enjoy, please spread the word around. THANKS!!!!

hey there...
I have listened Mercurial and The shield....
First, I must say, metal is not my type of music/genre. Overall, you guys have talent...
The vocal is good, drums and guitar are pretty good. You may bring drums and bass a little bit forward as once the lead guitar starts playing, I hardly hear the bass and the drums, which makes the song not very rich...Recording is very clear ...good job...
I don't say I like the melodies but again its not my type of music...
6/10....

DJ, thanks for the honest reply....I guess 6/10 from someone not into the genre is pretty good!

Midshipman, Forte
not too bad,
one suggestion though
try to make the bass more of a constant background type of thing, maybe even record 2 tracks, so that there's no empty sounds with only drums
i give it a 7/10

I had a good listen this afternoon, although we play some rock and enjoy metal/prog crossover ie the porcupine tree It is a little too heavy for my personal taste but I do love the suprise chords and modulations you use particularly in the later half of Anaximander. I just wish you could develop a slightly less 'jarring' soloing style for the quieter sections, smoother, a little vibrato to add feel..I think the contrast would be even more effective when the heavier vamps come in. When we first hear your voice in Antiquator (sorry if I got it wrong) track 2 on myspace it really rocks big raspy like the guy from audioslave. Yet the vx recording on Vanguard was to wet and difficult to listen to.
I will listen again and try some other songs, but I am sure that more contrast would help the overall effect especially if you fancy going down the prog metal avenue...
Hope this helps Jon from 30M

Hi there. i visited your myspace account and listened to the songs. I'm a metal fan, and Imust say that I was entertained by your music. Good mash-up of influences there. I like the crunchy guitar riffs of Anaximander. Reminds of Vision Of Disorder (New York). The drum-bass section are equally good. Pound for pound.
