I can understand the feeling expressed by John Weaver: having Ken Cowan and Paul Jacobs in the same class at Curtis must have been something.
(I am somewhat surprised when he says that his demands re memorization are unique in the world: it was quite standard in Paris at least up to Dupré's time and goes back to Widor. I'm not sure about today's class of Latry and Bouvard. Guillou, for one, still expects his masterclass students to play everything from memory.)
I have been a fan of Paul Jacobs and found this interview very enlightning.. Thanks for alot of good points for organists or teachers alike. I do not take the Diapasion anymore so would have missed this article.
