    Indeed, it is.

    Would you believe that the Freistaat Bayern actually has another one of these, a mere 150 miles further up North? Look here: http://www.die-orgelseite.de/bilder/...tsbasilika.htm.

    Back during World War II, someone (probably German) made the remark that England would have its neck wrung like a chicken. Churchill's reply while addressing the Canadian Parliament: "Some chicken; some neck!!"

    Some chapel. Some organ

    Sorry for the delay, but I was away for a few days.

    My main points of comparison are the following.

    • Passau: Almut Rößler's Messiaen recording (Livre du Saint-Sacrement);
    • Waldsassen: Harald Feller's Dupré recording (Le Chemin de la Croix and Vision), and Maxime Patel's Demessieux recording (complete works on DVD).
    Both instruments are very nice, with Passau maybe a tad more on the metallic side. Waldsassen also goes somewhat more into a "French" direction (deliberately so, if its “artistic designer” Günther Kaunzinger is to be believed), though without being a “C-C clone” or anything of that sort.

    As for recordings, I once saw a program in which Miss Show-off (a.k.a. Diane Bish) played Boellmann's Toccata on the Passau organ. But that's not one you can put into your CD player.

    Her programs have quite an encyclopedia of different organs on display, but of course she is the main display!!

    It is certainly true that Diane Bish and Almut Rößler have slightly different styles of hair cut.
