    Music Of Insurrection

If ya wanna hear some brutal Choral/Orchestral/Bass Solo music then check this out. You might find that Carmina Burana will sound *demasculated* after hearing this:

    Shostakovich really can surprise one.

I love the harmonies, and orchestration, and the melodies.

This is great.!! It feels dark and brooding but still kind of bouncing melodic lines

Another Shostakovich piece in the same vein: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S87uCio0eQ8.

(He composed that in 1953 — he didn't quite dare calling it “The execution of Joseph Stalin”, but that's still the idea.)
