MALEVOLENCE Limited Edition film score available

Howlin' Wolf Records has just released a limited edition film score for Stevan Mena's horror film MALEVOLENCE. MALEVOLENCE was released theatrically by Anchor Bay in 2004 and has been hailed as an entertaining and genuinely scary feature by both film viewers and critics - MALEVOLENCE premiered at a number of film festivals and won multiple 'best feature' awards prior to its theatrical release.

This release is a limited edition pressing of 1500 and features a complete score and full color inserts. The 12-panel full color insert includes lavish color images from the film, full track listings and times, credits, a forward by Robert Galluzzo from iconsoffright.com/fangoria, and liner notes by Stevan Mena the composer. The packaging includes a full color pressed CD and color tray-liner, all professionally designed and printed. Mena's score is characterized by tension building chords, percussion, and haunting, beautiful, and mood-setting themes. The flavor of MALEVOLENCE has been compared to works by John Carpenter, Charles Bernstein, Harry Manfredini, and Wayne Bell.

Currently this score is available through Screen Archives Entertainment, The Howlin' Wolf Records website, Dark Delicacies, Tarantula Records, Amazon.com, and Ebay. A very limited supply of CDs shipping with additional full color inserts autographed by Stevan Mena are available through Screen Archives Entertainment, Dark Delicacies, Tarantula Records, and The Howlin' Wolf Records Website. See the coverart below and preview an excerpt from one track of the score - track number 30 titled 'Bodies.' The score has 32 tracks and a running time of 58:16 minutes. Visit the website link provided below for additional information and to hear excerpts from select score tracks.

I wish I had seen your posting earlier. I found this score a few days earlier on Amazon and placed my order. I have not received it yet since I just ordered on Thursday. I went to your website and see that you have inserts that are autographed by the composer. Is there any chance I could get one? This was not made available through Amazon. I will send an email to your website address as well. I actually saw the film when it was in theatrical release in NY and love the music for this movie. Thanks and I look forward to getting this soundtrack. I will put up a review of it here once I get it in. Please let me know the possibility of getting the autographed insert. I will be happy to pay any shipping costs.

I will be happy to send you a copy of the autographed insert - we still have a few left - email me from the website and provide me with the address you used for the amazon purchase and I will track that purchase down and send you a copy. Please do let me know your impressions once the CD arrives. Thanks!

I got my CD today and LOVE it!!! Great job and the booklet is awesome! I so agree with the one quote in the insert that states you can hear a pinch of Harry Manfredini in the score. The tracks The Chase and Courtney so remind me of Manfredini. He is one of my favorites. Again, thanks for working with me to get the autograph and you are about to get an order on your website from one of my soundtrack buddies I chat with on-line. When and what is your next release?

Thanks for the feedback and we are very glad to hear you are enjoying the score. Our label was drawn to MALEVOLENCE because it is so reminiscent of great horror scores from the 70's and 80's with a little bit of an updated flare. I do not know if you are aware, but since you mentioned seeing MALEVOLENCE in theatrical release back in 2004, you might be interested to know that Stevan Mena has a prequel to MALEVOLENCE due for release this year called BEREAVEMENT - I know there are some trailers on-line you can see if you want to seek it out. Again thanks for this feedback and for spreading the word to your friend! We have had a wonderful response to this release and are grateful to those such as yourself for making others aware. In the meantime, we are in development on a new title that we are very excited about - so we will keep you posted.
