Prelude for left hand and pedals

    Hello.
No problem to turn the pages when you play this prelude, your right hand has nothing else to do.

Very enjoyable; but why for left hand and pedals rather than for right hand and pedals ?
Or are you planning one for right hand and pedals ?

    Best wishes.

There have been a small handful of cases where a composer wrote a composition for pianists with crippled or useless right hands. I think there have even been a couple or so of piano concertos written that way. Gary Graffman injured his right hand, but later became the director of, I think, Curtis Inistitute.

Ravel composed his piano concerto for left hand for the pianist Paul Wittgenstein who lost his right arm in World War 1. Prokofiev, too, wrote a piano concerto for left hand (also for Wittgenstein, I think).

This prelude is the 1st part of a 3-movements French organ suite, written for Marlin N. and scored entirely for pedals and left hand. My friend Marlin had a serious accident with his right hand where nerves, tendons and muscles were deeply cut, so he had to have corrective surgery. But he’s still playing a lot of things just with pedals and left hand (whether they were written that way or not – he’s very creative!).
The 3 scores can be found at my publisher .

Suite Française pour orgue - 1er mouvement: PRELUDE POUR MAIN GAUCHE ET PEDALES Composé pour Marlin N. qui gravement blessé à la main droite voulait quand même donner un concert.
    Friendly yours. Jean-Paul
