Independents

Does anyone have a favorite independent artist? I want to get into some new music.

You'd better define your terms. I'm sure there have been a lot of people along the line who could have been regarded as "independent" -- Schoenberg and Ravel come to mind. And I forget his name, but there was at leat one "composer" a while back whose scores were such total gibberish that nobody else could make sense of them.

So what are you asking for?

Well... I guess what I'm looking for is someone that isn't necessarily chaotic like you where talking about but rather someone with a unique sound. Granted, chaos is a unique sound. What I'm looking for is someone or maybe a group that is trying to take old sounds or rhythms and translating them into something fresh.
