    opus numbers stamped on pipes.....

There is this Tuba, on 5", we're trying to figure out the builder of. The resonators are a shiny, smooth, dark metal (could be zinc) and the bells are heavy linen lead. This rank was more than likely made between 1900 and 1920. In addition to the usual info on the pipes, "2528" is on there, too. I think this has to be the opus.

Could someone give me names of builders who, in addition to stop names and notes, stamped opus numbers on pipes?

    Appreciate any help.

    Hi,

Many builders such as Austin, Casavant, Wicks and Möller stamped opus numbers on their pipes. My church organ (Möller) has them except on the smallest pipes.

For opus 2528, I found two organs built in the 1920's with the opus number of 2528:

    1. Estey Organ Co, 1926 - First built for the Modern Theater (location unknown. Status of organ is also unknown.
    2. Hook & Hastings, 1926 - First built for the Reformed Church in New York. Although believed to be extant, the status has not been confirmed.
Possible that the rank you have could have come from #1 above, but that is "iffy" at best, but it's a start anyway.
    Kh ~~.
