Smile Great young organists on YouTube! (playlist)

It's always heartening to see young people who are dedicated to self improvement of any sort! I have found many budding young organists on YouTube who, I think, deserve attention and encouragement. To give these young people a wider audience, I have compiled a YouTube playlist "Young Organists" which features over 40 organists under the age of 20. Many are only 10 to 15 years old. http://www.youtube.com/view_play_lis...FAEF5B472FACBA

I think you will enjoy seeing these young people who obviously work hard at their art! A bonus - many are playing on great organs!

Yes. I have noticed the same thing on you tube in regards to young organist/musicians. I see there will be many to carry on for those of us getting older. Good luck to all, practice, practice, practice is the golden Rule... Bill

Can a ten-year-old reach the pedals? Well, there are usually oodles of other gadgets to try out.

But I also enjoy seeing other people playing, even if it does take some time to go through them.

Always great to see so many young people take a keen interest in the King of Instruments .

If our trade is to continue, we need these fledgling young artists to take our places when the fingers and toes can no longer find the notes.

Jean-Paul.. IS this youngman your nephew? Sure it as different pedal board than we are used to in the USA. I guess like playing a spinet pedal board with a full size organ even if only one manual. Very enjoyable.. Thanks for link...... Bill

Two young organists you should check out:

Gert van Hoef plays Bach's Prelude and Fugue in D Major. Gert played this in December 2010, just 2 1/2 years after he learned to read music! He is 16, and has over 90 videos, mostly advanced organ works or improvisations! Many are played on historic Dutch organs, but this is played on a good digital. I chose this video because I think it shows Gert's amazing talent about the best

15 year old Thomas Mellan takes us on a fantastic journey through the cosmos with his 40 minute organ composition "The Mysteries of Space". In these three videos, he performs segments of his work. Thomas, now 16, is just completing another organ composition. His life goal is to be organist of
Notre-Dame, Paris. He very well may make it!
