I got some great snapshots of my brother's group "Shadow" at a July 4th "Battle of the Bands" (they placed fourth), and of some local fireworks. I'll post the when I have the time...

Better late than never ... ...
I was in Silver City (NM) for the 4th of July ... lots of festivities despite the rain. There was a fine city fireworks display late in the evening.

You should have been here on the 4th. That saturday night was
like a war zone. I didn't get any sleep until 4:00 AM the next morning
and I had to go to church. It was a miracle that I didn't fall asleep
in church where the service was the contemporary one with electric
guitars, drums, well you get the picture! One of the fireworks left
a crater in my front yard big enough for a basket ball. I heard it as
I laid down for sleep. I jumped like I was shot! CABOOM! I had a big
day of my own yesterday. I turned 49. Next year I might be able
to join the Red hat ladies. Huh?

OK, since the my last posting attempt was too big, let's try it THIS way:

I took these with an Olympus SP-570UZ mounted on a tripod. I didn't do anything special settings-wise, I just set the Scene mode to "Fireworks", and kept hitting the shutter. I was really pleased how well these turned out. Enjoy!
