    Sigalda Waterfall

Sigöldufoss (Sigalda Waterfall) is an waterfall in river called Túná. Some decades ago that river was damned and after that this waterfall has had very little water stream. In July the river was channeled again to the natural path and the waterfall got its natural flow back and become very powerful waterfall. The waterfall is about 10 meters high and is located near a popular tourist route called Landmannalaugar route.

Best viewed in Full-Screen (HD mode) and pump your volume up. Enjoy!

    Hi falcon,

Sorry I have only just noticed this. It was very interesting to learn about the waterfall. It is in such a beautiful landscape, the music pumped up nearly deafened me.

Thank you for letting us share.

    Hi Stefan,

Beautiful music ... along with stunning photography.
Was the release of the water temporary, or has this splendid array of nature been allowed to continue?

Absolutely beautiful! It's just like what the USA would pull on
a famous Niagra Falls. I did see on NOVA one year where the
Colorado was done that way which didn't work. Nature that
wild and beautiful can't be tamed or something bad can happen
to it's eccology. Flooding can happen or you can wind up with
a dry dessert where an oasis used to be.

Thank you all for your kind words - I really appreciate it!

Krummhorn, it was just temporary because the dam needed some maintenance work so now it is back to previous form. We will probably not see this waterfall again in this shape until after 20-30 years.
