• Welcome to the Pipe Organ Forum! This is a part of the open community Magle International Music Forums focused on pipe organs (also known as "church organs"), organists, organ music and related topics.

This forum is intended to be a friendly place where technically advanced organists and beginners (or even non-organists) can feel comfortable having discussions and asking questions. We learn by reading and asking questions, and it is hoped that the beginners (or non-organists) will feel free to ask even the simplest questions, and that the more advanced organists will patiently answer these questions. On the other hand, we encourage complex, technical discussions of technique, music, organ-building, etc. The opinions and observations of a diverse group of people from around the world should prove to be interesting and stimulating to all of us.

As pipe organ discussions can sometimes become lively, it should be pointed out that this is an open forum. Statements made here are the opinion of the poster, and not necessarily that of the forum itself, its administrator, or its moderators.

In order to post a new topic - or reply to existing ones - you may join and become a member by clicking on Register New User. It's completely free and only requires a working email address (in order to confirm your registration - it will never be given away!). We strive to make this a friendly and informative forum for anyone interested in pipe organs and organ music.

I know you guys are probably laughing at me about how slow i am but Hector Olivera (www.hectorolivera.com) is an AMAZING organist!! Internationally Acclaimed!! OFG He can play so many styles like a sinch!! I'm listening to his samples on the website and i love "Joyful, Joyful" and "Fugue Alla Gigue"!! They're so amazing!! And he uses diffrent tones, so that each entrance is distingushable! Not to mention his wonderful regestration!! OMG and to makes thing better, he's coming to my area on Oct 10!!!!!! OMFG I'm sooo going! ;D You gotta see his YouTube vid, too: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2_mFg42LlUI I want to be like him!! D:!! I'm gonna work to the limit to grow up and be like him, seriosuly. But i'm not a comdian as a second talent, I'm more of an artist/cartoonist and studio animator/colorist :p Don't forget the poor cello too xD

Oh, and on the vid, check out 2:34 !!! I can't stop laughing!!! OMFG he's amazing o_O;

He's a remarkable talent -and so versatile. I can't believe I haven't come across him before. I loved his Bach Prelude in C which is one of my favourites. Thanks Silver!

Woooha, fantastic stuff. The video production was impressive - at the start I was expecting him to appear carrying an M16 with a commando knife between his teeth!!

Whereabouts is Sumter? I am in the Charlotte NC metro area, close enough to drive you think?

I attended the concert in Sumter today... Man is he a great entertainer as well as a more accomplished organist then I had imagined. He was very polite and friendly at the reception after the concert not the least stuck-up type guy. I got his autograph on an DVD I bought ( he played for 1 1/2 hours without a break and one encore ). If he comes in your area of USA and Europe .. it is worth attending his concert. He has played many great concert halls/cathedrals.USA and Europe i.e. Carnegie Hall,Spivey Hall-atlanta, Notre Dame of Paris, West Minister Abby, just to name a few. His Toccata on" Joyful Joyful We Adore Thee" is really impressive in person.

Afraid I found out too late about this one :(
Sumter's a bit far for me anyhoo... But, I have heard Olivera twice play at Calvary Church in Charlotte on the big Moller organ there. And yes, he is a phenomenal talent, and a prince of a guy to boot!

OMG you guys would NOT believe what i've recently gotten!! My father (God bless his heart) e-mailed Hector and saying that we'll be going to his concert and if it would be possible if we could meet him. Well, the next day we got an anwer back from Lieve Olivera! She said that it Mr. Olivera would be expecting them backstage at intermission and after the concert!! And she said that he would love to have a picture with her! Then his manager emailed us and said that Maestro Olivera has never invited anyone backstage before, or maybe even personalizing the concert on my behalf!

o_O I was spell-bound! AAAAND my parents said that we'll go if I finish reading my book. Heck yea I'm now going to read it until my eyes hurt! Thankfully though i only got about 6 more chapters left though ;) I'm reading the Scarlet Pimpernel. Amazing book.... amazing....

:D :D :D :D

This will be a highlight you'll never forget. You'll have to tell us all about it after the event ... and hopefully you can post a picture, too.

Hey guys!! I JUST got back from Prescott and I have a little sliver of a chance to get on the comp ^^ Anyway, it was amazing!! He brought his own organ, which he bought from Phoenix. It's so cooool!! I don't think there's a sound on there that he can't make!! xD!! From a human voice to a tuning fork, it's all so amazing!! My family and i also got a chance to talk with him at intermission. but time ran short to we met up again after the show. But he let me take a pic with him on his organ!! MAN that thing is soo huge up close!! All those little buttons!!! o_O;!
And don't forget he brought his Harry with him. ^^ He's cute. He's just a Beanie Babie-type frog. I also got him to sign basiclly everything!! He signed my oirgan shirt, the CD i bought, a paper with his, and.... I think that's all..... so not bascilly everything xP

But here's a few pics!! :D Of him and I
Here's at the organ, and Harry :p

Glad you got to go see and meet him. I know I will always remember my visit with him at the concert here Sept. 20,2009,, and that Frog"Harry" was funny in his concert.
