    hymn/psalm revisited...

    Hi guys,

I was sifting through my old mp3s and stumpled upon these, which I'd like to share with you.
They have all 3 been posted in here some time ago.

In a way they show a compositional process in development of the musical material. Which might or might not be useful for others to hear.

They are 3 seperate hymns (2 hymns and a psalm/choral) built upon a common theme but with 3 totally different expressions.

The first one if the first I made an evening some years back, a hymn for (theater) organ (with loads of organ"vibrato")

A week after I changed the instrumentation of the hymn to flute and harp while maintaining the thematic material I added a second theme and it got a whole new expression.

And finally a while after that I made a harvest psalm for a competition with lyrics by a Danish writer based in Aarhus. It didn't win anything (other than my own heart and that of the writer ).

3 different pieces with a common thematical bond.

All played by my computer with unedited hardwaresounds, so the sound is far from refined, but it should still be possible to hear the intention here.

    Comments are naturally welcome.

    All the best,

That was quite interesting to hear and it gives me some inside knowledge of the composers world . It`s strange how diffenrent the "same" song/hymn can sound. The first one I find quite annoying listening to, sorry no offence , but the organ sound is very shrill, it could probably be my speakers . The last two are very nice I like those

Yeah, the "Theater Organ" has a special sound to it... as to why it's particularly "shrill" I don't know, maybe it is your speakers not generating enough "juice" in the lower region?

    Thank you for your comments.

Here's another example of variation within one song - very "monotous" really, but there's still some sort of development and a feeling of some "fullfillment" at the end, even though not much really is happening.

    I love the title
No seriously, I really enjoyed that piece and even thought it`s kind of monotonous, it`s at the same time not monotonous(I hope that made sense ). There is something about it, that I really like. Good work

Hmm maybe a stupid question but why do you call it a "Theater Organ", I can`t remember hearing that "shrill sound" when I have been in the theatre.
