• Welcome to the Pipe Organ Forum! This is a part of the open community Magle International Music Forums focused on pipe organs (also known as "church organs"), organists, organ music and related topics.

This forum is intended to be a friendly place where technically advanced organists and beginners (or even non-organists) can feel comfortable having discussions and asking questions. We learn by reading and asking questions, and it is hoped that the beginners (or non-organists) will feel free to ask even the simplest questions, and that the more advanced organists will patiently answer these questions. On the other hand, we encourage complex, technical discussions of technique, music, organ-building, etc. The opinions and observations of a diverse group of people from around the world should prove to be interesting and stimulating to all of us.

As pipe organ discussions can sometimes become lively, it should be pointed out that this is an open forum. Statements made here are the opinion of the poster, and not necessarily that of the forum itself, its administrator, or its moderators.

In order to post a new topic - or reply to existing ones - you may join and become a member by clicking on Register New User. It's completely free and only requires a working email address (in order to confirm your registration - it will never be given away!). We strive to make this a friendly and informative forum for anyone interested in pipe organs and organ music.

    Many kind regards

Here is a delicious version of this wonderful advent/christmas hymn arranged by a certain, amusing Frenchman (Lefebre-Wely).

Sorry, but most annoyingly I can't upload at present as it says to me (unhelpfully)

"upload failed"

But then, in true computer fashion, gives no reason. Most vexing!!

Hi David ...

We apologize for you not being able to upload at present ... the condition is temporary and was most likely as a result of the recent crash/burn of the server last week.

This forum, and its sister site, Talk Classical, are currently running on an "emergency system", and both experiencing some abnormal anomalies.

If it's any consolation, even the admins can't upload to the forum either! :p
I've written a trouble ticket to Frederik on this issue.

Thanks for understanding, David :tiphat:.

I will be anxiously awaiting that upload .. the Xmas season is my most favorite, musically anyway.

"Oh Come All Ye Faithful" is also the hymn tune for the one known as "How Firm A Foundation, Ye Saints of the Lord". Would L-F's music fit that version? (Actually, the tune goes by its Latin name, Adeste Fidelis.)

CT64,

Might you not be just a tad too tart towards FinnViking? You are Vice Admiral after all and many look to you for leadership.

Cheers,

The Fins were not Vikings ...

The Vikings are known for their adaptation of the cultures along their trading routes. It's very likely that Vikings settled at Finnish shores, learned the Finnish language, married Finns and got FinnViking children! ;)

Hello:
If anyone is interested in this elegant version of Adeste Fideles, you can download it from this page (at the final end, under the name Gladius):

 This is what I get using the above:

"Jesús Ignacio López Gómez, usted ha sido declarado persona non grata en El Pombo.
Tenga un feliz día."

I can't decipher anything on that site ... I can fake my way through German and some Danish, but can't read/write Spanish.

Hey Kh,

I can't speak Spanish either. But you can always use google to get an approximate translation:

"Jesus Ignacio Gomez, you have been declared persona non grata in the Pombo.
Have a happy day"

Indeed, everyone. Have a happy day and a Happy New Year, too.

Finally. I could place the PDF sheet music in a new thread (Adeste Fideles) o Venite Adoremus. You may like to know the -rough- traslation from latin:
Come al...
happy and thriumphans
come all to Betlehem
To see the newborn
king of the angels
Come to worship...to the Lord
