yes, very interesting. what a long way we have come frorm those days.. still like the old sound however.

It does have a good sound to it. People also still play the antique
reed organs too.

Many years ago the church where I was organist suffered a power cut and we discovered the hand pumping lever still worked, though I think some sort of indicator to show the level of air in the reservoir must have been missing. My brother hand-pumped it for the morning service, and was a little too enthusiastic as every stop was louder than usual and I could hear air hissing from every joint. For the evening service it was the opposite problem. An elderly lady bravely volunteered, but her work rate was so inadequate I was limited to a solitary Dulciana. Not the most interesting of jobs, it has to be said. Thank Heaven for electricity!
