www.organsandorganistsonline.com started out as a Yahoo Group to which members could upload their performances. It was overwhelmed within a couple of weeks, so I realised there was an interest in a site of this nature. I announced my intention of "renting space" on a server and Tim Grenz, a professional website designer offered to design the site. It went online in July last year, with the intention of offering the organ community a place to "showcase" their performances. many musicians, from Professional Recitalists and Cathedral organists through to college students and teenagers have contributed to the site. This week's main feature is the organ of Levanger Church in Norway, played by Forum member Jarle Fagerheim (who was 15 when the recording was made two months ago) and myself. It also includes a description, disposition and photographs of the case, pipes, action, wind reservoirs and console - Jarle is to be seen playing!
It now has in the region of 200 downloadable mp3's in the Members Area and we get around 1,000 visitors a week to the site on average.
Please let us know what you think!
