Hi,
this will be my intro. I am of the old School Hi Fi. Built a transistorised amp, hoked up with Garard SP25 and Celestion County. Played Good Morning Starshine by Ronnie Aldrich from Decca Phase 4 LP.
Since then went through several systems.
Now I have IMF TLS80 Mk II, Denon universal DVD player and Yamaha RX-V363 receiver.
Heard the fabulous low notes of the pipe organ in Royal Albert Hall 2 days ago and dreaming of re-producing the low notes but I know I do not have the budget to achieve that. I am hoping to enjoy this Forum and learn from you all.

Welcome, making your own notes might be easier than you might think, have a look here

http://www.magle.dk/music-forums/9832-grandorgue-0-2-beta.html

A free virtual pipe organ and pipe sample sets, play it either with a midi keyboard or if like me you are not a keyboard player, then a cheap music notation programme and download some scores, a little bit of experimentation at settring stops etc and away you go.

I've got my PC playing through a Technics amp and a pair of KEFs.

Way back I worked for Plessey, Garrard was part of the group so I managed to get a Cosmetic second Zero100 for £25, still have it but now use a Technics SL-DL1 deck for transferring LPs to CD.

Hi Baz, I am partially of the old school also but not knowledgeable enough to make my own bits etc, so have to pay mega bucks to get decent sound, the system I have is very revealing:

I listen through: Technics sl ps900 CD player, custom made interconnects, Carver Pre Amp, KEF 104 ref speakers with triple braided speaker cables, a Plinius 100a class A amplifier. also a Sony dolby S Tape deck, plus a very ordinary technics TT. it is the next best thing to being there

 Welcome aboard, Laz Baz.

Glad to have you join us, and we hope you will enjoy your time here.
If you have any questions about the forum, feel free to ask.

Since we are chatting about our home audio components, here's my setup:

  • Sony STR-DE725 Stereo receiver and amp
  • Technics SL-PD887 5 disk cd changer
  • KLH 9154 Speakers

The KLH's are perfect for organ music, and even at low volume deliver the same low bass feel without having to engage the "bass boost" control.

The TV, VCR and DVD are directly wired into the Sony for those times when we would like to have higher sound quality for movies and special programs.

I just added a Techics SL-Q6 Turntable to replace my ailing AIWA.

In my car (VW Jetta) I have the Monsoon 8 speaker system with a 160 watt amplifier - delightful sound and sound quality on long trips.

Hi Laz Baz ... totally untechnical here, apart from playing the pipe organ, my music is produced by rubber bands twanged between digits ...
