Yes, I found that beatiful. Equally appropriate found a hot summer afternoon or late, late at night. Thanks for the intro.

Thank you for that CD, it would certainly put me to sleep. I thought it very relaxing and soothing.

My 1st reaction was that there cant have been many jazz flute players around, and then I checked-out Wikipedia and was amazed.
There are dozens.

I just don't associate the Flute with jazz (I played Flute but classical) and I played Jazz Double Bass, it (flute) just does not lend itself to the sexy and earthy sounds of the Sax or brass IMO but I am talking of the jazz that I know perhaps things and tastes have changed but not for me, exit stage right humming "songs of love":trp:

Not wishing to overstate my case can I just add :

There are a few instruments that are best left in the classical repertoire Oboe and Cor Anglais spring to mind, here is the solo from Dvorak’s New World Symphony

And this is the type of music where the flute comes into its own, played by one of the instruments masters Emmanuel Pahud

I really feel these instruments do not show their unique qualities in Jazz. So each to his own IMHO.

Quite understand Colin. I just particularly liked the piece that CD posted. Now I can't even remember what it was.

Another instrument that IMO is not for jazz is the Cello..........
Someone mentioned the "Organ" but Herman with his third herd used it a few times but can't remember the type of organ used
