we all have our record wants list, some records are really rare these days and if you do see them outrageous prices are asked. so what record have you searched for the longest? i have looked for years but never seen - the discovery of buck hammer on the hanover label. most of you will say who is that. it is actually steve allen recording under an alias. his albums were often given poor reviews by the critics. this record got rave reviews when it came out,5 stars in downbeat. when allen said he was buck hammer the joke was on the critics. gord:smirk:

An LP by a Mary Lou Wiliams big band which had C Jam Blues as one of the tracks, not even found the track on any of the compilation reissues. Also another big band LP from the early 50s, the memorable track for me was Night Train, but after this length of time I'm not 100% certain if it was Elgart or Lunceford, I keep trawling Ebay and other sources, so far to no avail.

Hi Mike

Hubby says it was Lunceford, he says the original recording was on Bluenote. If you can find the archives for Bluenote it might help.

The soundtrack from the 1959 film version of Porgy and Bess. The best price I have seen for this (on vinyl) was £500.00. Too rich for my pocket.
