I just ordered via Amazon an album by the Esbjorn Svensson Trio entitled Strange Place For Snow. The more I hear of this group, the more saddened I am by the all too premature death of its leader Mr. Esbjorn Svensson. What a tragic loss we all suffered when he died!

Just returned from a holiday in Germany and Alsace, France.
I found a wonderful Record (CD) shop on the Grand Rue, Strasberg, with a huge jazz collection.
Just couldn't resist a Cd by Kai Winding and J.J.Johnson called "The Great Kai and J.J." and got it for 7 euros.
Great music.

Just picked up 2 CDs from the Heart Foundation Shop (charity shop) which has been a regular source of jazz CDs for me over the years.

One was a DoublePlay Cd called "When the Saints go Marching In" containing 20 tracks as diverse as Louis, Miles, Ella, Dizzy, Bird, Count, Nat, Woody, Artie Shaw and Charlie Barnet. In other words GREAT.
The other was named West Coast Jazz and was disappointing - mostly vocalists I've never heard of - try David Benoit and Larry Carlton for size.

However for under £2 I cant complain.

Cheers John

"Pete Jolly 1955-56 Essential Jazz Masters". I like this guy (West coast of course) even though he switches to accordion now and then.

"Bill Perkins and Friends" Great tenor and of course West Coast

John, I think that Bill Perkins one might be akin to one I have on another label but titled 'Just Friends' with Richie Kamuca. Two sessions one with Pete Jolly and the other with Hampton Hawes?

When I read this thread it never fails to give me ideas about what to play every night!!

Bill Perkins/Richie Kamuca -Just Friends.

Chet Baker- Broken Wing.

John Lewis/Bill Perkins-Grand Encounter.

Cy Touff/Richie Kamuca- Keester Parade.
