Absent Friends

I have been looking back over old posts and it seems to me that a lot of the members from a few years ago have dissappeared. it is inevitable that some members would leave, death illness etc but things like change of job, location or even divorce should not bring about this sort of exodus. It is to my mind an informative and friendly site and I can see no reason why I would stop using it. The chances of someone losing interest in all forms of music seem remote (loss of hearing maybe). What happened to all those past members? Is there any way for the administrators to contact them to find out why they stopped using the site?

Come back.
I am sure you are missed.

Good points, Teddy,

I think the forum auto generates periodic 'hello' emails for those who have been absent for awhile ... not sure of the frequency of those, however.

I have sent PM's on occasion ... but depending on a users settings, they may or may not receive an email notifying them of a PM waiting to be read. The users current email may not be the same as what they used for registration purposes. I don't email them as doing so would reveal my personal/private email address. The admins don't have 'magle.dk' mailboxes, although it would be nice if we did ... hint hint .

Then too, life evolves for people ... they get new jobs, move away from home, change schools, get married, etc. I have seen this cycle on other forums ... a group of people hang around for awhile, then are gone ... then there are lots of members here who have remained faithful to this site over the years, and we are extremely grateful to all of you.

We are not liberty to release any personal information about any user here, and that includes email addresses, ISP's and such things.

MIMF is indeed a very friendly site ... this place is so very unique in its own special way ... like no other forum that I've been part of. Ever since joining here almost 4 years ago, I have kept returning and returning ... meeting new people, making new friends with people I might never get to meet in person ... that kind of homey feeling just isn't the same on other forums.

Send a long lost member a PM ... it's free, and who knows ... you just might get a response.

Thank you both for your response. I have to admit I am biased towards Mikes idea. Sounds the most fun.

Let's try the nubile young wenches first Teddy, you start at A I'll start at Z, share the results? :smirk:

When you do, be sure to request a "return receipt" ... in that manner you will know firsthand if the recipient actually received/read the message. ;)

There is a check box for that as an option when sending PM's.

I wouldn't worry about those that don't appear, they obviously have lives and better things to do with their time! Focus on those of us without lives and plenty of time to spare ...

Most of us go to more than one music forum and each forum is different it depends what you are interested in, I personally like this forum because the average age is a lot higher than most of the others and we have a laugh, our sister forum seems dominated by a much younger age group and has its fair share of aggressive young males but they are very keen and knowledgeable, people move on, don't worry be happy

In re to absent friends - Some come, some go but there is such good will, mirth, fun, and a big heart that MIMFer's possess that the new ones who join add such grace, causing this forum to blossom in so many colours and fragrances.

Hear hear CD, I agree, it is a shame some members leave us. Still we always seem to attract new members allowing this wonderful place to evolve.

Thank you CD, I am surely evolving here.

Poor Colin's nose looks a bit sunburnt Mike.
