I’ve recently bought the disk of Beethoven’s works performed by Maxim Rysanov, Kristina Blaumane and Jacob Katsnelson. And can say that it totally worth buying it! I’ve found it at onyxclassics site and can recommend it to anyone who likes good music! I’m sure you’ll enjoy it!

The four symphonies of Christian Sinding (Rustle of Spring's composer). Glorious, glistening, sparkeling and virtuosic stuff - why they're not played, who can guess. NDR Radio Philharmionic, Hannover - Procelijn and Dausgård.

Just ordered from Amazon:

Carl Nielsen--The Complete Symphonies, performed by the Janacek Philharmonic Orchestra under the stick of Theodore Kuchar. {This is my second Nielsen Cycle; the other is by Blomstedt and the Danish Radio Symphony Orchestra.}

Contratrombone64

Admiral of Fugues
The most god-awful recording (and, sadly the only one) of Massenet's neglected opera "Cleopatra" with Mounts of Fat Caballe singing the title role, though VERY badly in fact she comes across as the grandmother really. Awful orchestra - hideous in fact. I'm tempted to ask iTunes for a refund do to the awful quality of the recording.

Hey White, I know both these recordings and love them. There's also a quite nice set by Lenny Bernstein with various orchestras.

Yeah, David, I've just listened to the first two symphonies and found Kuchar's readings of them quite enjoyable, albeit a little faster than Blomstedt's. I've also enjoyed both Bernstein and Vanska in some of their interpretations of Nielsen as well.

I’ve bought this disk about a month ago and it’s really amazing! And my last purchase was the CD of the same performer, Maxim Rysanov, but with Ashley Wass, this time they recordered the compositions of Claude Debussy, Richard Dubugnon, Gabriel Faure and Maurice Ravel. The music is wonderful! I found it at eclassical.com site, the disk calls “Pavane”.

I seem to be obsessed with the Bach Passions, having far more recordings of both (all HIP) than I probably could justify. Recently, though I purchased a brilliant dvd of Simon Rattle and the Berliners performing the SMP (in a 'ritualization' conceived by Peter Sellars)....and, really, I can't stop watching this. Sellars' vision is absolute genius, making the emotional impact of both words and music all the greater.

I can't recommend this too much for those who love the Bach passions. :)

Sorry about the quadruple post; I tried to cancel 3 of them but they just refuse to die! :banghead:
If anybody--moderator or otherwise--knows how I can cancel them, please let me know, or feel free to do so on your own {I figure a moderator would have that power}. Again, I'm sorry for the duplication--oops, I mean--quadriplication. :shake:
