Just joined and wanted to say hello. I began the study of sitar in the early 1970's. More recently I have been gravitating to the rudra veena (a more ancient stringed instrument).

So Hello from San Francisco

Welcome to the forums. Interesting instrument. Do you have any tracks of your playing you can post as that would be neat to hear. Enjoy your time spent here.

Hello Povstar
Welcome to the site. First really became aware of the sitar because of the Beatles. Would love to hear some of your music.

Thanks very much for the welcome. I will post a clip or two of my playing but right now I am betwixt and between sitar and rudra veena. I have had to go through some major surgery on my left hand (the fretting hand) about three years ago. It is in the final stages of healing. I also went through minor (trigger release) surgery on my right index finger about 7 months ago. And now my left index finger is triggering. We use the left hand for very long slides across the fret. I think in Western music it is something like "glissando"? In Classical North Indian Indian music it is called meer or meend, depending on dialect. It is a major part of the music and can be up to 5 or 6 pitches sliding across one fret.

So I need to get my hands back in order and when I do I will be more than happy to post a clip or two. I appreciate the interest.

Btw - there is a photo of my rudra veena I had made for me. I worked with the maker about 3 years on both the design and the technical sepcs.
