Virgin Media logic?

My phone line has a fault, no dial tone, no cals getting in either

So went on line to their troubleshooting pages

Why do I have no dial tone?


If you have dial tone, use our easy to follow troubleshooting guide I have no dial tone.
Can anybody explain the logic behind this gem?

I might say I am not over impressed.

I contacted the Lifeline emergency service that provides me with 24/7 cover, (I'm 76 and live alone) I don't need to be near the phone, just press a button I carry and the device dials out to a monitoring service which can call any of the emergency services and also holds a spare key for access. They sent somebody out to check the line etc then contacted Virgin for me explaining a need for rapid response, Virgin will send an engineer on Friday between 12 and 4pm, so much for emergency cover!! even less impressed!

That is typical of companies like that. Friday is definitely not rapid response, there is no logic in what they told you.

I have been using Talk Talk at home for about two years, mainly because I get a cheap line rental/broadband/ calls package. But I would not use anything but BT at the office, because I have found over the years that they give the best response if you have a system fault. At the time of the big storm I hade two busines lines at home. By midday I was back on line. The only house in my street with a phone that was working. Bcause of your circumstances it might be worth looking to change back to them.

I've got a phone and broadband package, on cable. This is the first phone fault I've had in over 20 years and broadband has only dropped out a couple of times since it started. Broadband speed is close to what I pay for averages 9.6M, paying for max of 10M. We had no end of problems with BT and their broadband around here is dire.

Virgin have sent me a form for my doc to sign if he thinks I need priority cover which is a gauranteed 4 hour max response.
