Bag's Groove, piano and flute version

Hi, I heard Bag's Groove played by a piano and flute duo on last.fm, they had the CD details wrong, listing it as from "Milt Jackson, Birth of the MJQ" when I checked that out on the Amazon MP3 sample it was obviously not the same.

Can anybody throw any light on the possible line up. I couldn't be 100% certain that there was no bass, guitar or percussion, if there was it was very subdued.

It's definitely worth a listen if you can find it!

Nope Gord, found that version on Amazon and had a listen to the MP3 sample, nothing like! The one I heard on Last fm was a piano and flute duet, the Mike Ledonne one is a group including sax, vibes and rythm backing. Back to the search engines!!

Found it, on Amazon, Bill Cunliffe piano and Holly Hoffman flute, now to search last.fm Youtube and Spotify (search for the album "Just Duet")

And it is on last.fm under it's correct album, how they got it mixed with the MJQ version is beyond me!

Hi Mike,

I put "Just Duet" to Spotify enquiry and just threw up a Steve Holt(p)/Keiran Overs(b) duo.
Good piano - you might like it.
Tried Holly Hoffman and Bill Cunliffe - they came up separately with no duet mentioned. So Spotify came up a squib. Both sounded fine on their separate CDs

teddy,
you need to get Spotify, I'm not sure how at the moment, but try the web site and it should tell you

Yes, I do use Spoify, at least the free version. My trouble is time and energy to do these things. I tend to be reactive rather than proactive so I am constantly leaving one thing to do another. Still it makes life interesting.
