NIMBY, yeah, you're right about municipal issues, and Corno Dolce is globally correct.

NOPE! Not On Planet Earth!

Hey! I just made that up.
"The Fonting of Youth". If you want to use this for a movie, book or song title, and have a hit,
you can pay me the royalties.

^ Yeo, NIMBY pretty much covers local issues. I like "NOPE!"- might even use that one, not much chanse of royalities thou ;)

mmm TFoY, I think about that one....

Where would you find any takers???

I don't know, maybe the Chinese or Russians or even North Korea- you got me thinking, maybe I could talk crazy Clive Palmer into this, instead of building the Titanic II......... Could save the Greek economy! and sink the Titanic again:grin:

have you noticed how the expression global warming is being exchanged for climate change, now it has been proved that the Earths temperature has remained steady for at least fifteen years. Now they are claiming that there is too much CO2 in the atmosphere despite that fact that botanists claim we need it to make the plants and trees grow, which will produce more oxygen. One loony is claiming that this years heavy snow in Britain is a direct cause of carbon dioxide that was produced TWENTy FIVE YEARS AGO!

Coldest Spring in Britain for nine million years. And we are running out of gas so it may be rationed. And there is a fault in the Baltic pipeline so it has been shut down. How long before the fire brigade ( soon to be re named the anti global warming brigade) come round and put my coal fire out?

I was almost tempted to agree with Corno Dolce about no manmade global warming,
thinking about this forum while walking here this morning and wanting to be friends,
but all those squirrels chasing me for my nuts convinced me again our weather is changing.
This is Canada, and there's no snow, warm winds the last few days, not even parking lot buildup.

Not bragging as a Watt, but the new diversion tunnel at Niagara Falls can power 130,000 homes,
and that's homes with lots of TV screens, computers, washers and driers, phones, musical amplifiers,
vacuum cleaners, little socket plug-in night lights and novelty lights, porch, deck and walkway lighting,
home enveloping Christmas, Halloween and other holiday lighting, security cameras and detection devices,
heaters and air conditioners, battery chargers, most of it over-engineered to be on standby, not just off.

Chances are, you'll be tossing some of your money into the Falls if you ever visit. Please do.

The argument is not over whether the weather patterns are changing but over what is causing it. And particulary the increased heating cost caused by the insistence of the greens. Elderly people are dying in this country during cold winters (we have had three in a row) because they can not afford to heat their homes. And the cost is escalating annually. The idiots claim that big savings can be made by purchasing more efficient boilers and white goods, but that can cost thousands and is beyound the reach of the people who need tham most. Care in the community? I don't think so.

There are approximately 620 coal fired power stations in China. Approximately 2,300 world wide. Meanwhile we in Britain are closing our last three.

WELL THAT WILL MAKE A DIFFERENCE WON'T IT
