Choral and Opera area?

Might it be possible to add a separate area for choral and/or opera threads to the Classical Forum?

Covering from plainsong, madrigals and motets to operas, masses and works like Messiah, Crucifixion, Carmina Burana, even Porgy and Bess?

I suspect Robin is holding most of the administrative reins at the moment, Lars is gallivanting round Europe playing Organs :smirk: so it will probably be a week or two before any high level decisions can be discussed by the powers that be!

The more members that post affirmative views to this thread, the more likely it will be that any action is taken. Always assuming the software can take any further load.

Hey! Get some enthusiastic Opera conversation going, and I am so there!!:smirk:

I'd like it to get to the point where it would be obvious that such a sub-forum would be desireable. Having said that, I don't really see that there's enough of this conversation to merit a separate sub-forum. (Wish I was wrong about that...) Maybe you guys can steer to me to some activity I may have missed.

O.K., then, I'm off to the Classical Board, to go looking for some opera discussion!

Not so interested in the Opera but for the real choral music, oratorio, chant and the great English Choral Traditional music I say bring it on.

Is it possible that as there is currently no choral/opera board here that we have not attracted so many interested in that area?

As I envisage it, a choral board with a separate opera section, in a similar way to that in which the organ board is divided into pipe and electronic.

This gets my support, too. Being an opera lover. Maybe Frederik can consider two distinct areas? Seeing as opera and choral music are worlds apart in many respects.

I agree they are completely different Opera for the Buffoons and Choral for connoisseur, I am a provocateur  :p

I do have some of the more popular opera but have never really got into it, even the Britten operas leave me somewhat cold and Wagner is beyond me but I do like some of his orchestral bits, but the singing ughhh

Have you had no response to this good idea Mike? A yes or even a no would be appreciated.
