I intend to listen to some more Colin, but you have made a good point. I am a bit of a Jackie Kennedy with music.

Jackie Kennedy was married to John the US president. While touring Europe with him after his election she was asked by a French journalist how she had enjoyed her visit to the Louvre art gallery in Paris. She replied famously (or infamously) - I don't know much about art, but I know what I like.
I suppose that sums me up regarding music. I just haven't got her looks or money.

The Ink Spots.. Their use in The Shawshank Redemption certainly helped create the atmosphere in the film. Great listening on a hot, lazy summers afternoon, siting under a tree with a bottle of wine (or two)

I have mentioned John Martyn here before. Anyone into Jazz Rock Blues should give him a listen. Solid Air from the album of the same name deserves acclaim. Its on youtube. Inside Out deserves the title progressive. The way the music was stirred around the theatre when he played live was incredible, with the album almost as good.

Gord, hi and how are you? Not to nitpick or anything, but aren't the blues considered to be a genre of jazz or vice versa? Just wondering in my ignorance. Take care--WK

hi steve, you say blues and jazz singing are the same, that i am not sure, i would have to ask some of our more knowledgable members what they think. can muddy waters and john lee hooker be considered jazz singers or even eric clapton or mick jagger who can both sing the blues, are they jazz singers? maybe someone else can answer this question. gord:confused:

Steve and gord if I may but in:
I think there is a difference between "the Blues" and "Jazz" a singer of the blues may not be a jazz singer but all jazz singers can sing the blues, instrumentally a jazz band will term any slow/mournful tune as 'blues' and some times a ballad (even if not sung), that of course is IMO

Ok, Colin, that sounds reasonable enough. Thanks.

I have a few vinyls by Enya. Not so fashionable these days but a good voice and some relaxing music with an Irish influence
