He's one of the better "latter day" Thereminists for sure, I quite like some of his You Tube clips. I still think it's one of most remarkable and simple musical inventions, and I dearly wish I could get mine to work properly - mind you, it was one of those cheap kits from a Jaycar store which took me ages to put together. It basically does what a Theremin should, but it's temperamental and highly oversensitive (a lot like me really!). I'd really love to have one of those Moog Etherwave Theremins, they're quite easy and fun to play, and have solid features.

i've heard the theremin is possibly the most difficult instrument to master, from a technical standpoint

Clara Rockwood was the greatest virtuoso of all time on the Theremin. She worked with Theremin himself to improve the instrument's capabilities, and she appeared as a soloist with many orchestras around the world.

FROM WIKIPEDIA - "Rockmore was a child prodigy on the violin and entered the Imperial Conservatory of Saint Petersburg at the age of five. She studied violin under the virtuoso Leopold Auer. and remains to this day the youngest student ever to be admitted to the institution. Unfortunately, bone problems due to childhood malnutrition forced her to abandon violin performance past her teen years. That however led her to discover the newborn electronic instrument and become the most renowned female player of the theremin."

Anyone interested in seeing just how great an instrument the Theremin can be should listen to this stunning recording, with flawless intonation, and the most delicate musical nuance.

The sound is pleasant :) are you a friend of Randy George ? the only Randy I know in the music world is Randy Andy from Bulgaria who is a fine musician if a little stiff, but the video presentation was super I particularly liked the way each instrument was brought in. The Theremin is a very interesting instrument and some one should do an article about it, I also switched over to de busy which was interesting.
A very interesting subject which should receive an intelligent response from our members, well done sir:cool::cool::cool::cool::cool:

When we were kids a friend of mine bought a little theremin, and it was fun for a while.

But in my teen years, oh, oh, get ready, I heard something I'll never forget.
Captain Beefheart, jamming with a theremin, howling along... oh... no... no

I've got to find some construction going on and listen to skill saws for a while,
to defragment my brain.

I've always been more interested in the Ondes Martenot instead, probably because it has a keyboard, and because a number of "serious" composers have written for it.

As far as the actual sound generation process, it's the same basic idea as the theremin, isn't it?
