Minority Report, starring Tom Cruise and based on a story by Philip K. Dick. Now I intend to read the original short story from which the film originates.

A Scanner Darkly, starring Keanu Reeves, Robert Downey Jr. and Woody Harrelson. This film is based on the story of the same name by Philip K. Dick, which I had just finished reading. It hewed very close to the story indeed and I quite enjoyed it.

A docu-film on the life of Boris Pasternak - Man, he was harassed day and night by various soviet security services - Glory to God that he was so well known internationally.
*If a man wants God to hear his prayer quickly, then before he prays for anything else, even his own soul, when he stands and stretches out his hands towards God, he must pray with all his heart for his enemies. Through this action God will hear everything that he asks* -Abba Zeno-
*Protagoras: "Truth is subjective. What is true for you, and what is true for me, is true for me. Your opinion is true by virtue of its being your opinion."
*Socrates: "My opinion is: Truth is absolute, not opinion, and that you are in absolute error. Since this is my opinion, then according to your philosophy you must grant that it is true."

Hurt Locker. About bomb disposal specialists. I believe it won awards.

Sexy Beast, starring Ben Kingsley and Ian McShane. On balance, a very good movie, funny and serious by turns. My only problem with it was that in certain parts--especially when the actors spoke in a very low tone--I had trouble understanding what they were saying.
@ Teddy, Thanks for recommending this movie to me; I thought Ben Kingsley was quite excellent in his fearfulness and evil!

Water for Elephants ... and I loved it, so true to the book.
I'm not an atheist and I don't think I can call myself a pantheist. We are in the position of a little child entering a huge library filled with books in many different languages. The child knows someone must have written those books. It does not know how. The child dimly suspects a mysterious order in the arrangement of the books but doesn't know what it is. That, it seems to me, is the attitude of even the most intelligent human being toward God.

Steve have you seen NIL BY MOUTH. Same sort of standard
