Good Night, and Good Luck, starring David Strathairn, Robert Downey Jr., Frank Langella and George Clooney. Excellent flick about Edward R. Murrow and his fight against the demagogue from Wisconsin known as Senator Joseph McCarthy.

The Thomas Crown Affair - with Steve Mcqueen. One of the best films he made. The remake was spoilt by the different ending.

Yeah, Teddy, he was always one of my favorites. I loved him in Bullitt and The Sand Pebbles as well as The Great Escape. For such a cool guy to die at such a young age as he did, and in so much agony, goes a long way in explaining why I can't/don't believe in God, at least not a merciful one.

I enjoyed quite a few of his films but for me the king of cool was Paul Newman. He didn't have to try. He probably did not even realise he was. Sad that we have lost him as well.

History of Solovetsky Island and the Monastery there - This is truly the Russian Golgatha - So many were incarcerated, tortured, and killed there by the professional murderers belonging to Stalin and his Goon Squads. I visited there this past summer and broke down crying because of the inhuman cruelty that went on there. But at the same time I became so enchanted by the beautiful and natural surroundings there. It is also the Russian "Athos" since it is a major place of pilgrimage for Orthodox Christians.

Uh, I was inspired to type here, and even though the previous reply isn't what I expected to read, it's kinda similar to where I'm at. If you're talking the last movie I watched, I'm thinking the last movie I really had to pay attention to was "Amadeus". My girlfriend wanted to drive to Hamilton on a winter night to see it, as close as she thought it would get to the Niagara Peninsula, being a St. Catharines Standard reporter. I thought going down the street to a friend's music store and getting some Mozart and staying in together would be nice, but we went. She drove.

I still can't get over that movie. The music, non-stop incredible, the costumes, the interiors of palaces and mansions, the stage shows, the history, and the lime pit ending. Rivetting for me eyes and ears. Even though I'm of severe Scottish descent, Mozart reminded me of my parents and myself, very playful.

And I have to comment for anyone who loses "faith" in our Heavenly Father. Please be precise about your statements there. Our God never said he was just compassionate, he knows in his presence the closer we are the more it can kill us, and at our distance of the flesh, we should only fear him, unless he's giving a prophet special attention. We all should be forever grateful that he sent his only half-begotten son to act as our intermediary.

If your faith troubles you, please, get into some history and learn about Hadrian's Wall, Friday the Fifteenth, and what The Stone of Scone is. That's history, easier to cope with, maybe.

Hate to admit it, but the last three movies I watched were the Jurassic Park trilogy (my other half bought them on BluRay). The first one is still the best, in my opinion. Still frightens the bejayzuz out of me.

@ John Watt, If you're referring to me, I never claimed to have had faith to begin with, so I have/had nothing to lose. Just clarifying a bit.

The Kings Speech. My daughters friend stayed over and brought the DVD. I see now why it is so popular.

Death in Venice, starring Dirk Bogarde and Marissa Berenson. What a truly great actor that man was!

Last time I went to the cinema was about 35 years ago, "One flew over the cuckoos nest" complete waste of money. I don't watch TV so can't comment on any others; back in the 1940/50s films, TV and radio were good entertainment, since then things have deteriorated along with most of what the media class as entertainment; I don't miss films, got far better things to do with what's left of my time.
