Good Night, and Good Luck, starring David Strathairn, Robert Downey Jr., Frank Langella and George Clooney. Excellent flick about Edward R. Murrow and his fight against the demagogue from Wisconsin known as Senator Joseph McCarthy.

The Thomas Crown Affair - with Steve Mcqueen. One of the best films he made. The remake was spoilt by the different ending.

Yeah, Teddy, he was always one of my favorites. I loved him in Bullitt and The Sand Pebbles as well as The Great Escape. For such a cool guy to die at such a young age as he did, and in so much agony, goes a long way in explaining why I can't/don't believe in God, at least not a merciful one.

I enjoyed quite a few of his films but for me the king of cool was Paul Newman. He didn't have to try. He probably did not even realise he was. Sad that we have lost him as well.

History of Solovetsky Island and the Monastery there - This is truly the Russian Golgatha - So many were incarcerated, tortured, and killed there by the professional murderers belonging to Stalin and his Goon Squads. I visited there this past summer and broke down crying because of the inhuman cruelty that went on there. But at the same time I became so enchanted by the beautiful and natural surroundings there. It is also the Russian "Athos" since it is a major place of pilgrimage for Orthodox Christians.

Hate to admit it, but the last three movies I watched were the Jurassic Park trilogy (my other half bought them on BluRay). The first one is still the best, in my opinion. Still frightens the bejayzuz out of me.
I'm not an atheist and I don't think I can call myself a pantheist. We are in the position of a little child entering a huge library filled with books in many different languages. The child knows someone must have written those books. It does not know how. The child dimly suspects a mysterious order in the arrangement of the books but doesn't know what it is. That, it seems to me, is the attitude of even the most intelligent human being toward God.

@ John Watt, If you're referring to me, I never claimed to have had faith to begin with, so I have/had nothing to lose. Just clarifying a bit.

The Kings Speech. My daughters friend stayed over and brought the DVD. I see now why it is so popular.

Death in Venice, starring Dirk Bogarde and Marissa Berenson. What a truly great actor that man was!
