Made an impression on me when I saw it a few years back. Did you notice some parallels with BLADE RUNNER?

Absolutely, Teddy. The overcrowding, scarcity of most goods that we as working or middle-class consumers would take for granted, and the overall dark tones in which both movies were filmed really hammer home what dystopias these societies have become, and--by extension--what we might yet become if we are not more careful with our wonderful planet. I think both Philip K. Dick and Harry Harrison {the author of the novel Make Room, Make Room, which became the film Soylent Green} had very similar fears and visions of this type of nightmarish future for humanity.
Great connection, Teddy, and thank you for coming up with it, as I had never linked the two prior to your observations about both movies. You actually got me thinking about something besides my current medical condition and upcoming biopsy procedure on August 6th.

On Netflix, Silent Running, with Bruce Dern, Ron Rifkin, Cliff Potts and--last but not least--Huey and Dewie, my personal favorites.

Yes, thats a beaut Steve

Yeah, Teddy, the funny thing is, I had quite forgotten how much I really like Bruce Dern's acting ability; he's low-key, yet at the same time focussed and intense. He's one of those guys who fly right under the radar until you see him. Next up will be the Laughing Policeman-- with another of my all-time faves-- Walter Matthau.

At a friend's house, watching low channel cable, a 1980 movie titled "Wholly Moses".
I'm thinking the star, Dudley Moore, must have been coming off "10" and was expected to carry the movie.
The female star and extras are Saturday Night Live regulars, probably testing movie potential.
Producers probably thought using California back yards, er, landscapes, with middle east mountains dubbed in, would look good.
However, their time spent in Sodom got, uh, a little humourous. Everyone likes a fallen angel.

On Netflix, Tron: Legacy, with Jeff Bridges, Olivia Wilde and Bruce Boxleitner, Overall, a pretty good sequel to the first Tron movie. It had--at least for me--some logical flaws, but great special effects and Olivia Wilde is quite easy on the eyes!

On Netflix: Stranded, about a group of astronauts who crash land on Mars; I would have been better off leaving this one "stranded" back at the Netflix warehouse. :shake:

Via Netflix, a film shot entirely in black and white called Pi, about a lonely and genius New Yorker who becomes obsessed with the notion that he can find the perfect number which will serve to explain all kinds of life's mysteries. However, the only thing which it serves is in the end for our protagonist to literally lose his mind. A sad and somewhat muddled film.

Dark Shadows -- Johny Depp starring in a typical Tim Burton film. A vampire with a difference who returns to help his family. Entertaining

Hey Steve, I remeber watching Pi a few years ago. It really isn't something you usually see on regular TV. Interesting, that's for sure, but not for everyone, and not something you'd wanna watch after a long, though day. I think the fact it was shot in black and white added to the overall climate of the movie. I'm not sure why but when I read your post I instantly thought of another movie called Fight Club. Have you seen it?
