"Last Stand Of The 300", about the woefully outnumbered Spartans holding off the much more numerous {both in terms of troops and equipment} Persian invasion force.

Дети Арбата(Children of the Arbat) A film about the life of a famous film director(Anatoli Rybakov) who grew up in what was a working-class section of Moscow, which is now populated by the very rich. He was once a ardent believer of the Proletariat Cause but he later on saw through the "Big Lie" of Sovietism.

"Zardoz" {1973}, starring Sean Connery and Charlotte Rampling. The only saving grace for me in this mish-mash of a movie was the music accompanying it, namely the second movement from Beethoven's 7th Symphony. This is also featured in the "King's Speech", which I'm sure has to be a much better flick!

Steve,

Beethoven's 7th was the best part of King's Speech, I reckon, given the fact I was watching the movie in a cinema and the sound quality (and volume) was so good it sent shivers down my spine.

Mat, that is high praise indeed! I know what you mean, though; I can't stop listening to that theme. Even when I do, it's still reverberating in my head. It simply has to be one of the most gorgeous, lush motifs ever conceived by mortal man--Beethoven or anyone else.

Sexy Beast - Staring Ray Winstone. Ben Kingsley won awards and nominations for his portrayal of a pscho gangster. Very watchable but vey strong language.

Round Midnight directed by Bernard Tavernier. Its a great film about the jazz legend Bud Powell and his time in Paris.

Troy, with Brad Pitt, Eric Bana and Orlando Bloom. Excellent movie. Now I am really motivated to go out and read The Iliad!

Bernstein In Paris: The Ravel Concerts. Tremendous footage of the maestro from 1975 playing piano and conducting. Among the highlights for me were "Bolero" and seeing a young Boris Belkin playing solo violin with unbelieveable accomplishment. Simply outstanding!

I've just watched Eyes Wide Shut with Cruise and Kidman. Yup, I've still got some more catching up to do...
