Please tell me this isn't really jazz

I think this must be one of the worst clips on Youtube, except for a few others by the same ensemble

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KVFBYBx_p1s

I challenge anybody to listen to it right through, I definitely couldn't. I was daft enough to think it might be a one off, but no, their other pieces are just as bad.

Even a piece with the addition of Chick Corea did not impress although it did almost have a tune.
    Cheers MIKE.

Mike, I'm in total agreement: to me it was merely a cacophony of noises and sound effects with no apparent meaning or end in sight. Definitely not jazz, or for that matter any other genre of "music" to which I would be willing to listen for even a short amount of time. p.s., I actually made the mistake of listening to this "work" straight through; you were wise not to have done so, Mike! Adios for now, white knight.

I was through with the clip after 10 seconds. It was inevitable that jazz would eventually go that direction, just as classical music did. Don't think I'll ever be able to accept that fact.

And believe me, though I won't bother looking, there are clips worse than that on YT.

    EDIT:

I changed my mind. Try this.

You win Mat, please don't look for anything worse than that; it was evil, to subject poor harmless instruments to such abuse.
    Cheers MIKE.

I agree. While I am all in favour of pushing the limits to see if anything worthwhile comes out of it, this is a monkeys and typewriters affair. Just because enough people play enough notes it does not guarentee a tune at the end. I lasted 30 seconds before giving up. PLEASE DO NOT LOOK FOR ANYTHING WORSE.

No worries, I'm not gonna look for any more of that sh*t. Let's all focus on real jazz instead.

I listened to your link all the way through Mike, dire though it was. Mat I am sorry to say after just a few seconds I gave up.
